Wage portage is present in several European countries for 30 years. It is a simple and quick solution to set up in order to invoice for services and to start a professional activity in complete autonomy. In 2018, the FEPS (Fédération des Entreprises de Portage Salarial) counted no less than 86,000 employees in France, who achieved more than 1 billion 32 million euros in turnover. Overall, the sector has + 20% annual economic growth.

Wage portage: Principal & definition

Wage portage is presented as a triangular relationship between three actors: the portage consultant on one side, the umbrella company on the other, and finally, the client company. This interdependent relationship allows the consultant, previously hired by the umbrella company, to carry out assignments corresponding to his expertise for the clients of his choice.

In return for carrying out his missions, he receives a salary, paid by the portage company. The latter also takes care of the management of his administrative obligations and provides him with daily support to help him develop his business.

In addition to its interest for senior executives looking for work or retraining, wage portage is also a good way for a business creator to test his business plan before creating his own legal structure.

This legal status is based on the principle of a tripartite relationship bringing together the consultant in wage portage (or ported employee), the portage company and the client company wishing to use the services of the ported employee. Operation offering a 100% secure legal framework thanks to the branch agreement of June 24, 2010. This is governed in particular by contractual relationships, which we detail in the 5th point.

Wage portage: principle

Wage portage is a combination of two fields employment and entrepreneurship. An innovative operation offering many advantages to the salaried Contractor who is this freed from most of his administrative obligations.

– The portage company takes care of the administrative part.

All the self-employed are aware of: working on your own account requires a significant personal investment which is sometimes incompatible with a truly fulfilling private life. Between the prospecting and negotiation phases, the execution of missions, and administrative obligations of all kinds, the working hours inexorably accumulate, leaving too little room for personal life.

As part of a salary portage contract, it is the portage company that is responsible for managing the administrative part in place of the consultant, as is ultimately the case in all conventional companies. It invoices the interventions, collects the fees paid by the customers, calculates, and declares the social charges. So many boring and energy-consuming tasks that the employee can thus delete from his schedule and his concerns.

– The employee concentrates on his activity.

By entrusting the administrative aspect of his activity to the umbrella company, the salaried Contractor is no longer forced to find the right balance between the exercise of his core business and the management of his business. He is free to carry out more assignments to increase his turnover or, on the contrary, to share his free time with those close to him.

Autonomous and truly in control of his time, the salaried Contractor sets up the commercial actions that seem most appropriate to reach his target. However, if he feels the need for help with his strategies or prospecting for new customers, he can also call on the teams of his umbrella company.

The salaried Contractor also has the opportunity to follow a free training course and benefit from the advice in order to learn how to develop its offer, improve its technical knowledge, and advance its commercial discourse.
